WHAT IS A TRADITIONAL LIFTING OF FACE AND NECK?

A traditional facial lifting, also known as rhytidectomy, improves the inferior two-thirds part of your face, including your cheeks, jaw and neck. Neck lifting is usually done underneath your chin. For patients getting facial lifting, liposuction may be done to eliminate excess fat deposits. These procedures provide a better look than short incision facial lifting, which is not very effective in resolving extreme flaccid skin in the neck area, but does give a faster recovery for most patients.

Many patients who get a facelift decide to combine it with other facial sculpture procedures such as eyelid lift surgery to get better results. Dr. Olmedo can help you decide in combining different surgeries to get a more natural and youthful look like you have always wanted.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE FACELIFT SURGERY?

Generally, the surgery is done with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation for your well-being during the surgical procedure which lasts approximately four to six hours depending on the look you are striving for and the options of facelift you choose such as: the traditional, reduced incision or neck lift. The incision in the traditional facelift is done from the temporal region, going around your ears till the inferior part of your scalp.

The fat can be sculptured or redistributed throughout your face or neck. Generally, the tissue deep to your skin and facial muscles are lifted as well. The lifted face is then cover with your own skin, cutting any excess skin. A second incision may be needed underneath your chin to help improve any wrinkles in your neck. The incisions are then stitched or cover with skin adhesive.

TRADITIONAL FACELIFT

Incisions can be made from the temporal region, going around your ears and possibly going behind your inferior eyelids or below your upper lip.

REDUCED INCISION

Neck lift can help improve and saggy jowl, flaccid skin on your neck and buildup of fat underneath your chin. The incision is usually done in front of the earlobe continuing in the back part of the ear and ending in lower part of your scalp.

NECK LIFT

Once healed, the incisions done for facelift surgery are well hidden underneath the lining of your hair, face and ears.

IS THIS THE RIGHT PROCEDURE FOR ME?

Facelift and neck lift surgery can improve your appearance giving you a youthful look on your middle and lower part of your face that goes from your eyes to your neck. Usually healthy men and women between the ages of 50 and 70 go through this procedure.

Many patients are satisfied when they get rejuvenated cheeks, a well-defined jaw and smooth neck skin. Dr. Olmedo’s goal is for you to get natural and attractive results for your age as well to not look as someone else, but rather improve your image without changing who you are.

THE RECOVERY AFTER GETTING A FACELIFT

It usually takes around 10 to 14 days to recover from traditional face and neck lift. Most of Dr. Olmedo’s patients are able to reinitiate their daily activities, including work, around 2 weeks after the surgery even though the inflammation may last for about 4 to 6 weeks. Having a young face will be rewarding for many years.
